This scholarship is offered in memory of DMR alumna Kyria Madany-Klein, who had a profound impact on the Charlottesville art community. She was an accomplished dancer, singer, actor, creator, choreographer, and photographer. Kyria was an artistic visionary with passion, insight, and compassion far beyond her 18 years. With determination and a grateful heart, she overcame all obstacles in her path on her journey as daughter, sister, friend, performer, leader, and student.
In honor of Kyria’s legacy, DMR seeks to provide financial assistance to students who exhibit her same qualities of kindness, perseverance, and playful artistic spirit. Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on their high character, financial need, and potential as a performing artist. Preference will be given to students enduring health or hardship challenges that are limiting their artistic aspirations.
