Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard about Lin Manuel Miranda’s groundbreaking Broadway hit Hamilton, an inspiring example of wordplay. In this new DMR camp, Word/Play, campers will deconstruct classic and contemporary scripts, poetry, and music to create their own exciting performance. A combination of traditional acting techniques mixed with storytelling, spoken word, and hip hop makes this an unique educational experience for aspiring actors and writers. Campers will take away from Word/Play the skills to quickly analyze and breakdown text, tools to improve cold reading skills, the ability to improv and think on their feet, and the basics to enhance brainstorming and creativity. Word/Play will be led by the closing speaker in the Tedx conference, Bernard Hankins, who ran our incredibly successful Word/Play Camp this summer.
